Vehicle coverage
Electrical
Electrical parts fail from age, vibration and heat. Whether they are covered depends on the plan level, and the list of included parts is often short on lower levels.
What this covers on many plans
- Alternator and starter motor
- Window, door lock and seat motors
- Wiper motor
- Control modules, on higher levels
What usually causes these failures
- Heat and vibration over time
- Corroded connectors and wiring
- A weak battery that strains the charging system
Often not covered
- The battery itself, which is usually a wear item
- Fuses, bulbs and wiper blades
- Damage from aftermarket accessories
- Problems that existed before coverage began
Questions to ask before you buy
- Is the battery covered or excluded as a wear item?
- Which control modules are named in the contract?
- Are hybrid or electric drive components covered, or only on higher levels?
Coverage depends on the plan you choose. The covered list, exclusions, limits and service fee in your contract decide what is paid. Ask for them in writing before you buy.
