Cancellation and refund terms are written in your contract and vary by plan and by state.

What to look for

• Whether there is a period in which you can cancel for a full refund
• How a refund is calculated after that, for example by time or mileage
• Any cancellation fee and any deduction for claims already paid
• How to cancel and where the request must be sent
• How long a refund takes and who pays it

How to cancel

Follow the instructions in your contract. Put the request in writing and keep a copy. If you cannot find them, call us and we will help you find the right contact for your administrator.

If a refund is not paid as the contract states, your state's insurance department or attorney general can tell you what applies where you live.
